Happy Thanksgiving

So...last night before I went to bed I sent a friend an e-mail. I knew they wouldn't read it till Thanksgiving day so I wrote at the end "Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King. His love endures forever." Then I sat down to do my devos for the night. I hadn't remembered where that verse was from in the Bible...I just knew it was there so I didn't think much of it, until I opened my Bible to Psalm 118...the first and last verse of that chapter read like this "Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King. His love endures forever." I couldn't believe it. God is so sneaky how He works.

A few weeks ago a friend of mine told me something that still gets me every time I think about it...
With all the studies being done on people's brains and everything they have found something pretty cool. When you have an emotion of thankfulness and gratitude it comes from one specific spot in your brain...but also, from that very same spot comes the feeling of anxiety and worry...therefore it is physically impossible to be thankful and worry at the same time. Worry often drives fear...and therefore...God has made us in a way that if we are thankful we are protecting ourselves from unneeded worry, anxiety and fear. CRAZY huh? So for all the times in the Bible when God says to not worry but to be thankful...He is not simply telling us to be grateful for what we have, but He is telling us that He has made it physically impossible for us to worry if we are thankful. I love it!!! How amazing is that?

So, basically on this day that is totally dedicated to gratitude...I want to let you know that in so many ways I am so thankful for the many blessings God has given me. If you are reading this and you have even said hi to me at some point in life, you have been a blessing. God is so good. I am so thankful for so many things. If there is one thing I know for sure it is that His love does endure forever. All God wants to do is be in a loving relationship with His beloved children. He is in love with me and I am so thankful He knows what I need.
